Its Friday, and this weekend I am having a quiet one as I have lots planned for the rest of January. I have a big family party, a couple of dinner and dancing dates, as well as a friends birthday. I am planning ahead, as normally I leave it to the last minute and then I panic. Examining my wardrobe ,it is full of things to wear casually but not that much that is more dressed up.
I am tired of wearing jeans, leather leggings and jumpsuits in the evening and at 45 it is now or never on the glamour stakes.
A great evening suit seemed a first step to a more grown up look -I am working up to wearing dresses again.
I love this suit – it feels, and I hope looks, like a Gucci piece. The slit back makes it different and glamorous. The suit is from Theory. I have come to love this brand as they make such great classic pieces.
This is a simple outfit to throw on on a night out as, you just add a pair of heels and a great clutch. The clutch is from Pierre Hardy and the shoes are Gianvitto Rossi, both last season sales buys.
The back detailing is divine, showing just enough. I think the back is one of the most beautiful parts of the body to show off .
Jane, a friend of mine just owns it… by that I mean she works out, looks glorious and is not afraid to dress to impress. I also want to mention Shanaz – thank you, for reminding me to buy less and buy better.
I and a lot of my friends have become afraid of dressing in skirts and dresses. I think I am worried it will show my age so I am clinging on to dungarees, jumpsuits and jeans as a badge of youth. Not there is anything wrong, with these trends and I will still continue to wear them but maybe not when I head out for a special night out.
Another thing that I have realized is that I must wear my clothes – there is no point in keeping them for that special occasion or ‘for best’.
My husband always reminds me that I was always in a mini skirt when he first met me -I will dig out a photo to show you all. With my children now 6 and 8, I have more time to get ready than I used to, so no excuses.
When I see someone wearing a great skirt or a fabulous dress Like Noreen Goodwin) when I am at a party or dinner I know I need to embrace my feminine side more. So expect lots of dresses in 2016 and maybe even a mini skirt .
So its weekend ladies- time to get dressed up, its now or never.
