I put it mainly down to Max Mara and that lust worthy teddy coat but we also cannot avoid the influence of good old Kanye West in bringing brown to our attention. It has taken me a while to embrace this trend but as there are so many shades from brown to tobacco and cognac, there is a guaranteed colour for everyone. Think of it as another neutral. I have added a colour chart below that I use to help me find complementary colours.

Like navy, brown is way more forgiving than black as we get older, however, it is crucial to get the right shade and to combine brown with a fresh colour palette. Otherwise there is the danger of wandering into bad school uniform territory or crumpled older lady land.

Brown looks amazing paired with a spanking new white shirt or t-shirt or add a pop of yellow or claret or with a simple breton t-shirt.
I bought the Lemaire blazer from a preloved shop. It was brand new and as it was brown it lay languishing unloved until I came along. I wear it over my denim or a floral dress.

I am obsessed with calf length slouchy boots and when I spotted these Marni boots unloved in a corner of a preloved shop I couldn’t believe my luck. This trend is so easy to pick up preloved as most people ignore brown and the prices for designer pieces is as affordable as a high street jacket or pair of boots.

I have collected some great pieces below for you all to check out loads of well priced pieces from the highstreet and loads of designer preloved options too.
