As a famed shopaholic it must seem strange to hear that I had never visited Bicester Village.
In my mind I imagined hoards of tourists and piles of worn, shabby clothes that no one really wanted the first time round.
I was lucky to have won a trip to try out their VIP Service in my daughters school raffle, so after convincing Jo and Shanaz to come with me we headed out one morning after drop off.
We took the train from London Marylebone which took us 50 minutes, and then took the shuttle bus to the village. The trains are super regular and the shuttle takes 10 minutes.
The VIP section is so welcoming and you are provided with a base to take a break and indulge in a cup of coffee or a glass of champagne.
Fiona- one of the stylists at Bicester- knows the stock really well and pointed us in the right direction. You also get a 10% off card, where you can get an additional discount on certain brands. The service also includes hands free shopping, where your bags are dropped to the VIP centre so you don’t have to carry them around.
So the verdict?
We went mid-week and it was easy to flit from shop to shop. It is super clean and the staff are so much more welcoming than I often experience in town.
The stock is hit and miss, but the Saint Laurent, Chloe , Stella McCartney, Roger Vivier and Bottega Veneta and Fendi had great pieces.
Jo found a fabulous Saint Laurent bag and I bought a tracksuit from Stella McCartney. I fell in love with these Fendi bags- in the end I couldn’t decide. Thinking about it, I wish I had snapped up the red one!
It is a relaxing day out and I will pop in again to check out the new stock in September.
They have great restaurants. Nick Jones of Soho House fame has opened up the Farmshop, which is a glorious place to refuel after a day shopping.
At the weekend they have lots of activities and live music, and a playground for the children too.
I will be popping in there regularly from now on!
