I get asked constantly for recommendations on well priced day and evening dresses and it is something I struggle with.

It is Ladies Day today at Cheltenham and I know from many readers that they have struggled to find well priced, quality dresses.

Why? Often dresses are either too expensive, too short, the material too cheap or just really unflattering and ageing.

The Bernshaw name kept coming up in the context of well priced, stylish and age appropriate dresses so I had to to go along myself and take a look at this historic british brand.

This family business has been making dresses and evening wear since 1945. The company- now in its third generation- has at its epicentre the design director Sara Brett. She is a mother of three who loves to look stylish but also has to juggle a busy career and a family life.

Spring 2015 Collection has Arrived

Wow, does she do it well! When I visited her offices just behind Topshop the new Spring Collection had just arrived.

Bernshaw have got it spot on. They cut for real women and I could have walked away with at least ten dresses that day. That is a real turnaround for someone who struggles to find even one dress I like.

Lets start with the day dresses; these will take you from a special lunch to the office to a dinner after.

The colours are flattering and fresh, the materials are great quality, but it is the cut and the attention to detail that set it apart. You just will not go wrong by investing in one of these dresses.

I love the illusion dress below. This will give you such a small waist and the colour combination and fabric are spot on.

Bernshaw also do great jumpsuits which are very flattering. This is a piece I always stick in my suitcase if I am heading away.

These dresses are my favourite. I love the sporty look and the colours are so easy to wear, there is great support around the bust and the dresses hold you in in the right places.

Evening wear can be notoriously hard to find and in most cases I find it super uncomfortable, but not the Bernshaw dresses. These are dresses to party in- you will look fabulous but more importantly they are comfortable enough to dance the night away in, no worrying about flimsy materials or wardrobe malfunctions.

These dresses are similar to the D&G dresses and I love the myriad of colours. They are a great length  and the lace is matte… I have my eye on the grey one!

I love this dress for Summer on sale so take a look on the Bernshaw site

If you have a summer wedding, garden party or event, these dresses below are perfect. I love the pastel hues and the great fabric as well as the lining which is in either a great contrast colour or a lovely nude.

So if you have a garden party, wedding or are off to the races, I hope we have given you some inspiration.

With the help of the Brand Outlet  I have put together some outfits below, the Brand Outlet sell new designer items at very low prices.

The dresses are available online at Bernshaw. I would love to know what you think and which is your favourite?
