The older I get the simpler I dress. If I find something that makes me feel comfortable and good about myself I am happy to stick to it. I don’t want to become a ranting blogger but everyone looks better in a fresh white t-shirt and it never looks dated or out of fashion, and it makes you look younger.
I have been living in a bunch of H&M t-shirts that I bought before Christmas. They are soft (OK, they don’t wash the best), but at £6 I am not complaining and washing them in a laundry bag has helped. To be honest I haven’t wanted to put anything else on!
When it is cold I layer with a cardigan, my favourite is the beaded one I found on Etsy. I have added loads to my Etsy Wish List for you to check out.
When I head out in the evening I was looking for a better version of this H&M t-shirt and found it in the men’s section at Raey. The cotton is stiff and gives a great line. You don’t have to spend a fortune on this trend, just raid the men’s section at Urban Outfitters or Marks and Spencer.
What I have found about buying from the men’s section is that they are not so oversized as a lot of the women’s clothes and they make you look more dainty.
Be careful on the neckline if you have bigger boobs or shoulders and look for one with a less higher neckline. I have spotted this glorious t-shirt at SSence – they are an amazing U.S. site (no extra customs and very efficient delivery) from Alexander Wang and now reduced to £31.
A new t-shirt updates any outfit and with central heating everywhere it’s much better to spend your money on these than sweaters, which I seldom wear.
Sometimes just changing the style of your t-shirts brings your look up to date and if you think the look is too plain then accessorise with great jewellery (we are selling the bangles featured below on NW8closet for £79 – they are vintage and sublime) and they would update any look.
I also have invested in a fabulous oversized scarf that I keep in a bag. I found it on the fabulous preloved site Rebelle. The one below is a Fendi brand, new and cost me £70. There are loads of great ones online now.
I have been using my hair piece a lot as my hair is in that dreadful growing out stage! I also need to use the irons and straighteners a lot less as this is ruining the condition of my hair. This is one of the reasons I am now growing out my hair as the lob is gorgeous but all the work it involves is too much for me and ruining my hair.
I bought my hair piece from TrendCo and they colour matched it to my own hair colour and showed me how to use it. They have a huge selection and are really knowledgeable. I paid £240 for mine as it is real hair but they have loads of great wigs and synthetic hair too.
Avoid all the synthetic tops and stick to simple white t-shirts, great cashmere and shirts and you won’t go wrong.
I am going to shorten the hair piece and get my hairdresser to show me lots of ways to use it so I can get through the next 6 months of re-growth!
Now back to bed, still got a streaming cold but being positive and not letting it get me down…much!!
