Every year we are told that we need a new cut of denim, and I have tried most. For most of us, we already know the style that suits us and our lifestyle.
Generally, I love to wear a skinny leg as it is so flattering and easy to carry off, while in the evenings I turn to a boyfriend jean with a heel.
Just a tip – the Levi 501, called the custom and tapered fit, are amazing and are now fifty pounds in the sale at House of Fraser... again, thank you Hannah for sharing.
I have worn them non stop since I bought them.
So this year along comes high rise, wide legged, cropped denim, I have bought a few pairs but returned all of them.
So it all went wrong; as they are high rise they can make your middle area look rotund and add inches to your bottom, unless they are cut well. Not to mention I felt my thighs looked bigger as they are wide legged.
So, if you do embrace the ‘cropped’ denim, beware that you may have to try loads to get the right fit.
Why the ‘cropped’ denim? I think the look is so fresh, and I like how the cut flatters your ankle and showcases your shoes… but only if you get the right cut.
This pair worn by Hannah are from Nasty Gal, and I was lucky enough to order the last pair. They are the ‘one’ as they are not too highly cut, the width of the leg is flattering and the crop is at the right place on the leg – a lot of the jeans I looked at were cut too short and fell into culotte territory.
Which ones are worth looking at?
So what to pair with this look? I wish I could wear them with a body but my tummy just is not flat enough for this.
I will be pairing mine with a simple shirt or a peplum top and a pair of midi heels and a silk longline trench. I have ordered this backless top from Nasty Gal, as I love the simplicity.
This is a look to pair with a midi heel, and there are so many to choose from, ASOS, Zara and J Crew are doing great options. Beware of wearing this cut of denim with flats, I don’t know many people who can carry this off.
I cannot wait to get my ankles out… roll on Spring!
Thank you Hannah Stafford Taylor for featuring and sharing all your tips with us.
This week I am away skiing but as soon as I get back I will be living in these jeans.
