Spring Fashion 2022
I don’t know if it is the after effects of Covid or the war in Ukraine but I really haven’t been able to get enthusiastic about Spring 2022. Perhaps it’s the underlying feeling that there are more important things we could do with our money.
In any case, yesterday I decided to do a huge clear out and spend some time donating these to the charities I know desperately need them. It’s a small thing but at least something that I could do.
So, back to the Wish List…let’s get real, there is absolutely nothing out there. I have never seen such a lack of newness, originality and innovation but it is no real surprise as retail has taken a beating and the buyers are unsurprisingly, being super cautious.
I have also noticed that prices have rocketed, this is a mixture of raw material and fabric price increases and retailers desperately trying to earn back some of their losses. I went through pages of Net-A-Porter and most of the items were over £1,000. The online retailers have also bought in the safe brands, such as Gucci and Saint Laurent, and are not taking a risk on emerging brands.
I haven’t bought anything from the new season yet but I do have a few pieces on my WISHLIST. I am holding off as I think a lot of the retailers will offer early discounts and I want to be ready…
With all the uncertainty with travel and events, focus on the DAY TO DAY, then you know you can 100% wear the pieces. I have added a a mix of investment pieces and sales finds.
