The little black dress is the go-to for many people when they have a party to go to, but not for me.  I prefer to wear something more relaxed when heading out.

I would love to track down a pair of the Chloe metallic trousers from 2009, and it is one of my saved searches on both eBay and Vestaire Collective. I live in hope of stumbling across them.

I am not so keen on a lot of metallic trousers as they are too stiff, scratchy and normally unflattering, but the softness and fluidity of lame makes them easier to wear.

My current obsession started when I spotted these at J Crew, teamed with a great white -tshirt, shirt or cashmere and a pair of heels. It just doesn’t get better than this.

The price is what has held me back, and I have been trying to quench my obsession. I have found a few options, but the J Crew pair just cannot be beaten so far. I love the lightweight material as well as the cropped length.

I did spot a pair at ASOS, but a size 8 UK too small for me.

Check out some fabulous pairs on Yoox, and I found a vintage pair on eBay which I decided to order as they only cost thirty pounds.

To wear it well you have to dress this look down, ideally with an oversized knit.

I adore this  Hillier Bartley sweater and it is on my Sales Wish List. In the meantime I have bought this one I found on eBay and will be having the patches redone in velvet. I love the contrast of the manliness of the sweater (I’m calling it prison guard chic) with the lame.

There is nothing in my wardrobe these heels by Olgana Paris featured below wouldn’t go with! The satin, the fur and the soft brown colour are a real change from my normal blacks and beige. I have tried them on and they are really, really high so my search for something a bit more wearable continues.

Please let me know if you find any gold lame trousers!
