As you get older you have to think a little harder about showing some flesh! I fell in love with the off the shoulder trend as it allowed me to show some skin without straying into the ‘mutton dressed as lamb territory’. I have noticed that tie straps are replacing the cold shoulder and I have been scouring the websites, looking for ones that don’t make me look like I have borrowed my daughter’s sundresses.
Overdress Vintage led me to my first dress. Vintage is the best way to hunt down trends like this, you don’t end up paying a lot of money and you can test the trend to see if it works for you. I just love the dress I ordered from Overdress Vintage featured below.
My tip for vintage is to concentrate on cottons, linens and silks. I found this one on Etsy or this one. You have to search and if in doubt size up as you can have the dress altered to fit.

Black is amazing in the Summer with a tan,as you don’t look as washed out and this one I am wearing below, was one of my sales purchases from Theory. They had loads in stock in Fenwicks and online on Farfetch.
Check out this Ganni dress in black photographed below it ticks all the boxes as it is midi length and has a tie strap.

I love this blue cotton one , I found below it is cotton too and is one of the amazing pieces that ASOS have online.

H&M also have two great ones and if this would have been silk I would have invested; the yellow option is also so pretty or this new arrival.

I did buy the green side tie dress from KJ Laundry featured below.
You can also just dabble with a top or a playsuit, the one below is from H&M. Check out Miss Selfridge, it’s where I found the top below.

My top tips are go for cotton and the bigger the bow the better, like the one from H&M featured below. Next have a lovely vest that I ordered and at £7 it’s a real steal.

Other designer options you can find in the sales are this one from My Theresa . Don’t forget to check out Ebay – I spotted a midi dress from Sonia Rykiel.
Wishing you all a great week!
Love
Anne Marie
