I am a big fan of Celine sunglasses , they look great on but they are not ideal for driving or protecting your eyes, when it is really bright as they are quite heavy.
So I have been on the hunt for a brand that looks great, is comfortable but really works in the sun.
Oliver Goldsmith was recommended my my lovely photographer Alex. Her cousin Claire designs and runs the sunglasses side and I love what she is doing with the brand.
This brand has been a family run business for the last 80 years and if you think of some of the most iconic films, then Oliver Goldsmith, will be behind the sunglasses from Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn to Michael Cain they all wore Oliver Goldsmith glasses. When you head downstairs in the shop, you can find all the old glasses and all the pictures of the stars in the glasses. The shop is worth a visit alone to see the array of photos .
I didn’t know that these iconic glasses were from Oliver Goldsmith . The brand was the first to think of sunglasses as not just something to keep the sun out but as a fashion statement. They were also one of the first brands to collaborate with big design houses such as Givenchy and Dior.
So with that kind of history I was fascinated to see where the brand had evolved .
That sense of style anchored in beautifully crafted and executed glasses is still at the forefront of Oliver Goldsmith and Claire at it’s helm has created a powerhouse of design.
I fell in love with the the Blue Rainbow Norum but there were so many others I adored and I will be featuring them all in a later post next week.
I love that for a special occasion you can have the glasses frames engraved with a special message and also decide on your own, frame/lens combination.
Next week I will be featuring an article, on which sunglasses suit what face shape and if you have any question relating to sunglasses let me know and I will pass them on to Claire.
