I have long used vintage stoles to dress up my day time look.  I am not that keen on them at night as it does look a bit theatrical and a bit over the top with an evening dress.

They are also convenient at this time of the year as they are perfect for layering because it can be cool in the morning and evening but often warmer during the day.

I always start with my jacket and coat and work backwards with my outfit.  As the jacket or coat is what people see, if you get it wrong you feel uncomfortable all day.  My decision is based on the weather, what I am doing and whether I am in the car, walking or on the tube.

My time is so limited in the mornings that there is often no time for outfit building, I decide the night before and leave everything out.

At the moment I am so tired of coats so I am wearing trench coats, a denim or leather jacket and if it is too cold I throw on a fur stole.

The best fur stoles are from Les Glorieuses or otherwise check eBay.

Joggers; I adore Stella McCartney or Sundry, just make sure they are cut above the ankle and the material is lightweight.  There are loads on The Real Real – a brilliant preloved site.

For mules, check out Russell and Bromley, Mango and Mansur Graviel.

I adore the Weekend Max Mara for grown up denim jackets.  They are a bit more generous, so they keep you warmer, and the oversized style is easier to wear than fitted denim at this time of the year, as you can layer with a hoodie or sweater underneath.

Invest in a couple of fresh white t-shirts, I adore Topshop for this.  I am stalking Net a Porter for the Sam Edelman oversized clutch to arrive and I am lusting after this Givenchy one on eBay or the simple black Stella one from Shonamac.
