I love a heel but I wont take them on holiday as I know I will never wear them.

With the kids, beach and the fact that we tend to go to more low key places, there is just no point.

At the same time, flats often don’t work with shorts or certain dresses, so I have been on the look out for a great pair since I got back from holiday. Slingbacks just seem a bit too formal at this time of the year and a mule, is something that looks lighter and is so easy to throw on .

Beware a lot of them make your ankles look huge and induce that clip clop action where you feel you have to grab on with your toes to keep them in place. So make sure that you can walk in them, a higher side does help keep them on.

Thanks to Jo who tipped me off to Edited (why won’t you send to the UK?), and a big thank you Brigitte (who lives in Germany) and has ordered them for me!!

55d0b8021a08fada1427c688ae6ce491These are the perfect height to add a bit of oompf to an outfit and at just over €100, are fairly priced. I know I am old emough to be her mother but well done Pernille on this collaboration.

Check out Anthropologie; they have so many interesting well made shoes that are a cut above the high street and they are comfortable, an absolute must for me.  If I have to break a shoe in I just cannot to bothered anymore.

These mules below are like wearing slippers and the heel is really sturdy yet flattering when it’s on.  So many mules make my ankles look huge, but not these.  They are from a brand called KMD (Spanish and they come in different colours, but are hard to track down).

The pair below are now on sale and these are the perfect holiday shoe, strappy enough to be sexy, yet super wearable, from Atelier de Charlotte again at Anthropologie.

4313640711200_001_b4My favourite pair come from Vanessa Wu – they are so like the Row pair, are beautifully finished and true to size.  These will take you into Autumn and look divine with a black cashmere and pair of jeans.

I have bought so many great shoes from L.K. Bennett and this season is one of their best.  There are so many great pairs of practical, yet truly breathtaking, shoes to choose from.  My two favourites are the Celia in leopard which come in black and green.

This mule works as it is cut higher on the foot and the deep v makes the ankle look much slimmer. The picture simply does not do them justice, they are true to size and make your ankles look slim, and are again, really comfortable on.  Another one which doesn’t look great in the pictures, but is beautiful on, is the Cordea (the perfect granny midi heel .

Don’t forget to check out Russell and Bromley, they have a pair in sale which are from their collaboration with Stuart Weitzman called the Candy Diva (not online but loads in store – down from £425 to £125).

The Outnet have a load of great pairs from the likes of Oscar de la Renta and Iris and Ink.  I wish I had bought the Oscar de la Renta ones when I spotted them at Bicester.

The most glorious pair are from Aquazurra but they are mouthwateringly expensive.  They are so gorgeous! 1073728_in_pp

Also check out Prada their version of the mule is selling out fast. This earthy brown colour will also go with everything .

You really have to find the ones which you can walk in as they have to be shoes you with throw on and go.  Just think, if you had to pack one pair, which ones will be the most flexible and with Autumn around the corner you should be able to wear them for more than one season.

If I find any more I will add them to this edit.
