I Love Dublin, I know I am biased, as it is my home town but it is so close to London, so well worth visiting . I know a lot of people have distant memories of Stag or Hen nights, we and the city have moved from there. It is a fantastic place to take a family break or else to escape for a weekend with your partner.
We will be covering other destinations in Ireland in the next months
Room service at Merrion Shelbourne Hotel At the Merrion Fade Street
Grafton Street
Here are my top tips.
1) Stay at the Merrion it is so worth it, an authentic Georgian gem 5 minutes walk to the centre of town, it has fabulous service, a pool, great gardens and the best place to watch the world go by, is by the fire in the drawing room.
2) Have dinner at Fade street social , Winding stair, 777 Mexican , Bagots Hutton or Coppinger Row or do a pub crawl and drop into the Horseshoe Bar at the Shelbourne Hotel, Keoghs on South Anne Street and end the night at Lillies Bordello.
3) Take the children on the following trips Imaginosity, Jumpzone, Taytopark and Butlers Chocolate Experience.
4) Take the Dart (train) south to Kiliney, you get a real feel for the city and get out and have a walk by the beach.
5) I often fly from Southend Airport to Dublin as it is a tiny airport and so quick to get through with children.
