I was lucky to be invited to the one of the most important buying fairs called Scoop by Flavia, the owner of Luxe Layers. As a consumer of fashion it was fascinating to see how boutique owners select which brands to stock.
Flavia runs an online boutique so she needs to stock brands which do some of their own marketing to create a pull effect. She also has to ensure that she invests in the right brands which will excite her customers and get them to return.
She was also so careful in checking quality and finish as no one wants returns, due to poor workmanship.
I loved watching how she pulled together a collection, ensuring that the pieces meshed together to create a cohesive look. Obviously price is also key and everyone wants value for money. Below is a an overview of Flavia’s Spring 2015 key pieces.
What I love is that she selects great quality pieces, you will have in your wardrobe for ever and her price point is affordable. She also buys for real women who lead busy and diverse lives, who love fashion but are not slaves to trends.
You can see that Flavia has bought consistently and all the pieces can be mixed and matched, these are items you can add to what you already have in your wardrobe.
The fair was filled with brands and it was great to see the old favourites such as Madelaine Thompson, Goat, Vanessa Bruno and Penmayne Hats .
I just adore Goat and this white dress is top of my shopping list for Winter 2015, the entire collection is beautiful.
Flavia , has picked this great hat to by Penmayne as it is a great way to pick on the 70’s feel at any age. Her gorgeous blue leather jacket is from her Spring 20015 collection and is available online.
I fell in love with the Set it is like a cross between Zadig and Voltaire and Helmut Lang , the price point is really good and I will be checking it out. Below are pieces from next season.
All the pieces from this brand are made with such great materials and the finish is sublime.
I also really fell in love with Natalie & Alanna, this is so reminds me of Miu Miu and the price point is much more affordable. I just think this jacket it perfect alternative to a LBD.
I would style it with cigarette cut trousers and a silk t-shirt and a pair Jimmy Choo’s.
There is such pressure on retailers to get it right and it may seem a dream to own your boutique or online store but it is really hard work and it is important we support these small local retailers, where possible.
As a thank you to my lovely supportive readers, I would like to pass on this code from Luxe Layers, if you like the Spring Collection use the code CATWALKFREEDELIVERY, for free delivery and collections on all UK orders.
