I had seen the slouchy boot around and about but it wasn’t until I tried one on at Chanel last week that the beauty and usefulness of this style struck me.
Cropped jeans/joggers are my uniform but it makes finding the right shoe tricky and as the weather gets colder a boot is the only way to go.
The Chanel boot pictured below is exquisite, particularly the black suede version. It has a small wearable heel and is just on the right side of slouchy. It is good to spot the best and it gives you something to search for , however, the Chanel boot is way over budget, so what are the alternatives?
The ideal is to buy a pair preloved, I have added loads below. I found mine which are Marni at Designs NW3 and I prefer them, even to the Chanel ones and at £70 they are in budget, though I do wish the heel was lower and I am on the lookout for a grey or black pair with a kitten heel .
The key is to find a wearable heel and the boot should not be too slouchy. The calf length is much easier to carry off than knee high boots and keeps your trousers and jeans clean in the rain.
I have found all the ones below preloved; there are so many as this trend has been around before, just search for slouchy boot or calf length boot. As you can see, the prices for designer are, in some cases, less than Zara. These are from The Real Real
Vestiaire also have a few, like the ones featured below
I adore the Prada ones in a size 8 UK from Rebelle
I am not keen on the ‘in’ slouchy ones from Saint Laurent as the heel is too difficult to wear and the slouch is too much of a statement, Isabel Marant did them last year and they were also just really uncomfortable and will likely date really quickly. ALSO AVOID ANY SOCK like boots unless you frequent a runway, they are just not flattering on.
The high street has also joined the bandwagen and I have added loads of well priced options below. Dune have a lovely one called the Rossy and Topshop have the Hollie but buy the preloved ones, you will get better leather and a one off piece. I also spotted a pair on ASOS Marketplace which are divine too.
My message today, is to take the trend and look Preloved if the designer version is not in buget, rather than making do with a highstreet version, they will both cost the same, the preloved version just takes a bit more effort to find.
Wear the boots with your jeans tucked in or under a midi dress I will be keeping my eye and adding any great pieces I find to Shop Instagram.
