Since getting the chance to view Noreen Goodwin’s wardrobe and spying her magical collection of capes, I have been looking for my perfect cape. I found it at Tara Jarmon- this is a french chain which excels in coats and great separates.

I was worried about the red, with all its Little Red Riding hood connotations, but the colour just added that boost and with winter ahead I took the risk.

When I don this cape I feel happier and brighter and it doesn’t matter what I wear underneath- I am dressed.

I advocate the classics, and the shape and material of this cape are so clean that it does not end up looking theatrical, which I think a lot of capes can be. The cape is also really comfortable to wear and it can be worn open or closed. With prices similar to Sandro and Zadig and Voltaire, I have to say in my opinion the finish on this coats is better.

I love the calf length and you can fit a blazer or heavy knit underneath when the weather gets colder.

A cape is a great way of dressing up without trying… this is what my style is all about.

The cape comes in black but they are very limited, and the price point is really affordable. Tara Jarmon are not online in the UK, but you can call 02034450378 and they can send out any pieces. If you are in London you can head to the St Johns Wood or Hampstead branches.

I have also found a great selection of the brand online at Mon Showroom and House of Fraser.

If you want to dip your toe in the ‘cape’ trend then I have found these well-priced options for you to check out.
