I have held my nerve and it is now time to buy. The sales are at 70% to 80% off and there are some amazing bargains to be had. I am looking for more classic pieces that I can wear in Autumn too as these are the ones no-one is looking at and you get better value for money.
Sometimes I feel like I should be flogging more of the high street but I know that I want better quality and clothes that last more than one season. I don’t want to spend a lot but I know I need better fabrics and cuts.
I have sifted through all the websites to find you all the best dresses. I have tried to select a cross section to fit all heights and styles (I know I have a propensity to favour oversized dresses, however, I know that they are not for everyone). Hopefully there is something for everyone and a lot of the dresses will work in Autumn and Winter too.
Chloe seldom goes into sale and the midi cotton tie strap top is now down to just over £200 from £930 and you can find it at My Theresa. The Three Graces dress is the perfect ‘little white dress’ and now also now slashed to just over £100. The backless apron fronted white dress is not on sale but it is a real ‘wow’ piece. It is from Mara Hoffman and is really well priced. I am stalking the white kimono dress from Attico – it is my perfect dress and is now 70% off so I am so sorely tempted. This is a dress that is completely timeless.
The shorter lace black dress is from Alberta Ferretti and is on sale at Browns. In my book you can go short but you have to have a sleeve on the dress if you are over 40. The red dress is Self Portrait as well as the white one.
The purple dress is a real find and it will take you through the seasons; it’s from Gareth Pugh. One of my top tips is the black tuxedo mini dress; this dress could be worn at a Christmas or New Years Eve party; it’s from Tibi and is now down to £152. The blue off the shoulder mini dress is from Solace London and is a really practical flattering shape.
The mini folk dress is exquisite and from Talitha. I adore this brand and it is now reduced from nearly £600 to just over £100 and is one of my top tips.
I have been searching for a red dress to wear this Summer and I fell in love with this one from LF Markey; now on sale at Viola.
I have been searching for a couple of great black dresses, as I find that with a tan, black comes into its own. Starting on the left, top of my list is the Kalita stagetti strap silk maxi dress. This is a classic dress that you can bring out every year.
The tie arm dress is another dress you can wear year round; it’s from a brilliant under the radar brand called Dorothee Schumacher. This dress is a real find and is now down from nearly £700 to just over £150. I have been asked about wrap dresses and this one is down from over £420 to £120 and you can wear this with sandals or throw it over a pair of jeans in the Autumn.
Toteme is one of my favourite brands but it costs a fortune. I have found this one shoulder dress by the brand now reduced to £95.
The shirt dress is one of those you can wear to any event. It is from Sofie D’Hoore and now on sale at The Place.
If you are super organized you should buy the burgundy velvet dress from Emilio De La Morena. It cost nearly £700 originally but is now on final sale for £234 at Avenue 32. The dress on the right is such a practical shape and from the fabulous Barbara Bui. I also adore the Solace black dress, again, this is one you will be able to wear all year and at £72 it is a real find.
