It is incredibly tricky to get the right winter boot.
I have bought loads of pairs in the past and many have remained unworn as they were either too heavy or just not very comfortable.
Because of Covid, it’s also crucial to be realistic on what we will actually get the opportunity to wear.
Don’t just look at those run-of-the-mill winter boot edits as they will have you in a ‘clod hopper’ in no time. These boots will look great in editorial pieces but are hard to carry off everyday due to their weight and a ‘one hit wonder’.
This ‘boot of the moment’ is better bought from the high street; like the ones below from Daniel.
Look carefully at what outfits you tend to wear and ensure that you can wear your boots with what is in your wardrobe.
Lovely Jayne has also helped me to put together some future classic winter boots as well. In my view, if you are going to spend on boots, then let them be a classic piece, which won’t date.
A flat riding boot has been around for years, they can look as good with a dress and skirt as they do with jeans or trousers, tucked in. The boots below are a forever piece and will never date.
The boots are online and are true to size on the DIOR website.
You can also find all these styles PRELOVED. I bought the Chanel boots below from The Red Cross retail charity shop for £110 a couple of weeks ago.
At the moment, all the bloggers are pushing the Chanel pirate boot. They remind me of Captain Sparrow (Jonny Depp) in Pirates of the Caribbean. I much prefer the slouch ones below. Also who wants to pay thousands and have every blogger in town in the same ones!
You can actually find something very similar at Bicester Village. I found the ones below for a fraction of the retail price. Red Valentino have also brought out a wonder slouch boot.
Moving onto other other options; check out these boots from Michel Vivian which Jayne has discovered. These are phenomenal with skirts and dresses.
On my Wishlist is a pair of heeled boots like last seasons Golden Goose pair; they are a great comfortable option.
I also love the Isabel Marant boots below – they are called the Dernee but personally I would wait for the sales.
I also love these below from Aquazurra – brilliant with jeans as the ankle detail is wider.
The key is to hold out for a forever boot. Don’t just compromise; I have added some more new and preloved options below.
