More so now than ever, having a Dermatologist is the key to great skin. They are still able to see patients whereas lots of facialists are now closed.
Having a dermatologist has saved me so much money, as I have simply stopped buying so many products unless they are recommended for a specific skincare need. My skin is also calmer and looks the best it has in 10 years.
We are constantly bombarded with ‘must have’ skincare products, but the reality is, they cannot really change your skin. They might improve it slightly, but that is all. We dream to hope that a cream can remove lines, pigmentation or slackness but THEY DON’T. They might make us feel good, which is also important, but they WILL NOT actually change your skin.
I now only use a handful of products; they maintain my skin, and work hand in hand with the treatments that I have which truly changes my skin.
Obagi is a brand I was introduced to by Dr. Surbhi and it works brilliantly for me. I also feel relieved not to have to spend hours looking at You Tube feeling like I am missing out.
I will be honest, I do moonlight a little with cleansers, my current favourite is Tata Harper. It is expensive but it feels and smells so good and doesn’t dry my skin.
Below are the recommendations that I was given, specifically for my skin type:
OBAGI PROFESSIONAL C SERUM
It is the best vitamin C that I have tried and am now on my third bottle. It doesn’t irritate my skin at all and it also doesn’t go off, which I have found happens with other expensive brands.
ZO DAILY POWER DEFENSE
I put this on over my vitamin and it works as a powerful antioxidant-rich serum, this provides the skin with hydration and strength. It contains the following:
- Ceramide 6 – supports the skin and protects the skins barrier function from damage
- Retinol – boosts Collagen and helps with cell renewal. It will even out skin tone
- Ultrasomes and Roxisomes are both enzymes which will activate and speed up the repair of DNA damage. This will help the recovery process and aid the health of the skin
- Matrixyl 3000 is an anti-ageing ingredient which goes into the dermal layer of the skins structure. This stimulates Collagen production and diminishes the appearance of any fine lines and wrinkles by tightening the skin
- Vitamins A and E provide antioxidant protection which will fight against free radicals and protect the skin from pollutants
Most days I just add a sunscreen and the Mesoprotech sun mist; it is superlight and doesn’t clog my skin.
In the evening I use the Obagi C Serum.
If I need a boost I use:
DR LEVY R3 CELL MATRIX MASK
This mask helps to replenish your skin and restore a healthy glow. It is enriched with vitamins, antioxidants, retinol and hyaluronic acid to reinforce the skins natural defences.
In Winter when my skin is definitely drier I use OBAGI HYDRATE cream. It melts into the skin and just keeps it really hydrated.
Before I was chopping and changing all the time and this ended up with lots of mini break outs, but now my skin is calm and it has never looked better. I have also saved a lot of money and reinvested this into treatments that really do make a difference.
