I have been a self tan user for over 30 years and it is one of those products that is being constantly updated and improved.
Amanda Harrington has been tanning celebrities for years and this range came out of her own need for a product that delivers. You can book Amanda or one of her colleagues through her at home tanning service parlour. The link is here
It is the Rolls Royce of tans and by far and away the best I have ever used. I am on my second bottle, which I bought myself, at full price. I was lucky to have had the chance to interview Amanda last week and she was so helpful in filling me in on the science behind the brand and how she came to develop the product.
So, what’s different?
- Amanda treats the body like the face, we would never think of putting make up on without moisturising it first.
- First is the primer, it contains hyaluronic acid which fights the drying effect of the DHA, which is what causes the skin to tan. It also includes collagen and avocado oil which are both there to help keep the skin smooth. These primer; when you apply it, ensures that the next step the tanning product goes on smoothly and you avoid streaks and, secondly, you can use it every couple of days as it contains a small amount of tanning agent to top up your tan and keep your skin feeling moisturised
- Then there are the gloves, they are the softest ones on the market and this ensures that your tan product is easy to apply. They can also be washed which avoids those dreadful germ holding mitts. The tan itself comes in three tones, which mimic how your skin naturally tans, and the website helps you choose which one works best for you. The product comes out as a mousse and because of the primer and the gloves, it is so quick to apply and I have never had any patches or streaks
- The buffing brush is fantastic for adding contouring (there is a simple sheet on how to do it when you buy the Body Set)
These three steps take me 10 minutes and I do this once a week.
There is also a face kit but I think best start with the Body Set, get used to it, and then graduate on to the other products. There is also a barrier cream (great if you have very dry feet or pigmentation you don’t want to be absorbed by the tan). The scrub is also fantastic to clear away any build up of tan.
In the Winter, when only my arms and feet are on show, I will be using the brush with a small amount of product, this takes literally 1 minute to do.
The big selling point for the tan for me is that it is easy to apply, I have never had any streaks and the fact that it is super natural and fades without those dreaded patches. My skin also doesn’t dry out and feels soft to the touch.
You can buy the Body Set on line here and it retails for £85 but there is 10% off your first order.
