My good friend Shanaz taught me years ago to read the labels (properly) on my clothes! It sounds ridiculous but this simple thing has dramatically improved my wardrobe.
The ‘wool has literally been pulled over our eyes’. So many brands are charging cashmere prices for cheap acrylic, nylon or polyester pieces.
The prices these brands are charging are driven by the huge marketing costs they incur and spend when selling these brands to us. In reality, if you look at the pieces close-up they are not much better than a regular high street item. They are often over-hyped and plugged all over social media.
These fabrics are in a sense ‘plastics’. They are not breathable, meaning that they can make you overheat.
These fabrics are cheaper to manufacture and brands use these fabrics to reduce costs and increase their profits.
Check your label before you purchase and I personally have stopped buying anything (other than leggings) which is made from acrylics. Also, if a brand is charging more than £100 for something made of these man-made fabrics then they are OVERCHARGING you, full stop.
